The Rev. Dr. Blake Busick currently serves as the District Superintendent for the Great Northern District. He has served in the annual conference since 1984. Rev. Busick served First UMC in Santa Rosa from 2012 to 2018, the Good Samaritan UMC in Cupertino from 2008 to 2012, St. Paul UMC in Freemont from 1994 to 2008, Patterson Federated Church from 1998 to 1994, and Greensville and Taylorsville UMCs from 1984 to 1998.
He describes his vocational call to ministry saying, “From the very beginning of my ministry, I have felt called to change the world that God so loves. I pray and labor for God’s reign to come on earth as it is in heaven. I believe that the local church is the most effective and strategic means for this transformation, which happens as a result of disciples growing and multiplying. This is why I believe everything is about discipleship. Maturing in Christ is not just for the benefit of individual disciples, but it is the way God changes the world. I see my role as a Pastor of the church as one who leads this transformation through the means of discipleship.”
Rev. Busick graduated from the University of the Pacific and received his seminary education from the Boston University School of Theology. He also earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Pacific School of Religion (PSR).
Blake is married to Peggy. Peggy has worked in Special Education her entire career and is currently an Inclusion Specialist who works mainly with children who have Autism. Last year they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of two adult children, Matthew and Meghan. Matthew is the Head of Implementation for Bibblio, a technology company. He is married to Bob Dilokjeerapan and they live in London. Meghan is an Occupational Therapist working in San Jose. She is engaged to Nico Bernardo and they will be married in October.
